Welcome

My name is Tom is an EFL (English as a foreign language) program for young children which emphasizes children's natural ability to learn languages. The program is compatible with new teaching methods, such as natural learning, competency and self discovered learning, but it is also to be used in the more traditional ways of education.

My name is Tom is an introductory course: children in the lower classes of primary school are being prepared for English in the higher classes. The children meet Tom, a boy from England who tells them about his  'family', 'house', 'school', and 'birthday'. The singing of songs, playing games and making excersises on the computer allowes the children to learn the English language in a playful way. Experience tells us (and studies show) that young children learn a new language very quickly.

My name is Tom is highly compatible with the existing programs for the higher classes. The digital part is the heart of the program. There are four cd-roms that offer a wide vocabulary and a convenient system to follow the pupil's progress. In the manual you can find conversations (in Dutch and English) with hand puppet Tom to use in the classroom.
